It is well established that under hard braking situations fixed discs will expand under the heat, and potentially warp. However we have you covered with our fantastic Floating Disc Rotors.
This 320mm rotor not only improves your braking performance, but will help to reduce the risk of warping when you are really going for it. Made from an 7050 Billet Aluminium centre and a 420 Stainless Steel floating braking surface, these rotors are quality made to give you optimum performance.
But how does it work you ask? When metal is subjected to heat it expands in all directions. In a situation where the disc is one piece and is mounted, it has a surface pressed against another that it is unable to expand which can lead to discs warping.
A way to help prevent this is by using a floating disc with an aluminium centre that is mounted and a “floating” stainless steel rotor for the brakes to push onto. This separation allows the stainless steel rotor to expand and contract during braking without the mounted centre getting to the same temperatures that would result in warping.
